Obsessed With Isabella

This blog is dedicated to my daughter, Isabella. She is the smartest, strongest, most beautiful little girl you could ever meet. This is why she needs a blog all about her. Although she is the center of my life I will also share my opinions and ideas on other subjects, but mostly this will be about my little chunk-chunk.

Apple juice! YUM!

So I gave Isabella her first taste of apple juice tonight. She doesn't usually have a bottle of formula for a few hours before she goes to bed because she's usually not hungry. I decided to try and give her some apple juice anyways. She seemed to like it, but also seemed a little bit confused by what she was drinking. She started to drink it right away, but stopped and you could almost see her trying to figure out in her little head what the hell was coming out of her bottle. She must have liked it enough because she drank almost two ounces before she finally just fell asleep. She doesn't need to drink it right now, but I like the idea of letting her try something new and I can't imagine that the formula tastes that great. I figure babies need a treat every now and then, so the apple juice is a good start. We've let her taste different foods already, like gravy, spaghetti sauce, pudding, and my mom tried mashed potatoes. She always makes weird faces so you can't tell if she likes it or not, but it's cute and I'm sure she likes that different tastes and textures in her mouth. I can't wait to be able to try giving her rice cereal. She has a doctor appointment in January and they will talk to us about starting to feed her different baby foods, so we've decided to wait until then to try it. I know it will be really messy once she starts being able to eat different things, but it'll be fun watching her get excited over new foods. And besides that's why you feed them naked and give them baths.
Doug is working tonight until midnight so we aren't doing anything for New Years Eve. I don't know if I could stay awake until midnight anyways. My sleeping schedule is finally on track with Isabella's, but now it kind of sucks falling asleep at 8:30 or 9 at night. At least I'm getting lots of sleep because Isabella can sleep for up to 12 hours. The doctor told us at her two month appointment to wake her up every 6 hours and feed her, but why? I mean if she wants to sleep 12 hours that's fine with me. She has gained 2 pounds in the last month so she's obviously getting enough to eat. Besides when we did try to wake her up when she wasn't ready she just kept falling asleep while we tried to feed her so it wasn't worth it. Some nights she does happen to wake up at 2 in the morning because she's hungry, so obviously she knows when she's hungry and that she should eat.
Tomorrow my mom and sister are going to take Isabella for the night as long as the weather is good enough for them to come up here from Mayville. I hope its good weather because I know how much they like watching her, especially my mom. Doug works again tomorrow until 11, but I'll be able to get some errands done without hauling Isabella all around town. We didn't get to have our Christmas dinner with eachother because Doug worked, etc.. So I'm making it tomorrow night. I'm making ham, 7-layer salad, and sour cream potatoes. If you don't know what sour cream potatoes are you should have me make them for you sometime. They are the best potatoes in the world (at least when my mom makes them). I've never made them before, but I can cook pretty well so hopefully they'll turn out. We wont be eating until late, but we'll at least get to have our Christmas dinner.
Well I think I've talked long enough about nothing too interesting, so I should go clean up the house and probably go to bed.
Happy New Year Everyone!!!!!! Talk to you next year!!!! (hahahaha) (yup I'm funny like that...next year....hahaha) (ok, i'm done)

This is as much as Isabella can sit up right now. She can actually sit like this for a few seconds, but then she gets mad. She hasn't learned how to put her arms out on the ground in front of her yet. That would probably help her sit up a little better. She looks like she has her chew toy in her mouth, but she doesn't.  Posted by Hello

Isabella has something else to put in her mouth besides her thumb.  Posted by Hello

Isabella trying to roll over a new way. She can't roll from her tummy to her back yet because her arm always gets in the way. She's trying really hard though!!! Posted by Hello

Isabella taking a bath. This is probably her favorite thing to do. She loves kicking her feet in the water and soaking her mommy. She usually gets the counter and the carpet completely soaked, as well as me.  Posted by Hello

Well here's your proof people...

I got a few pictures of Isabella sucking her thumb today. As you can see it's really cute, but as I've explained already, I can't let her do it. Not much else to say since I didn't do much today. The news is boring the hell out of me. I'm sorry for those people that got hit with the typhoon, but it drives me nuts when news channels obsess over one story. I mean is there really nothing else going on in the world? I guess they find one story to continuously report on and the rest of the world stops living. Hopefully they'll shut up about it soon and find some new story that at least interests me to obsess about.

This is a good one. It's really cute to see her suck her thumb, obviously, but one day it wont be cute anymore just expensive because we'll have to pay for braces. Posted by Hello

Taking a break from sucking her thumb. Posted by Hello

The evil thumb has found my daughter

So I'm sitting on the couch watching tv and Isabella is laying on the floor watching tv also. I hear some sucking noises coming from her and figure she's just sucking on her hands like she usually does. I look down at her and what do I see??? Her THUMB is in her mouth!!!! She finally figured out how to get it in there. Now, you may not think this is a big deal, but to me it is. I sucked my thumb for YEARS, and had to get braces because of it. I know how hard it is to stop sucking your thumb, and I don't want Isabella to try to have to stop. So I immediately pulled it out of her mouth and stuck her pacifier in. I saw her do this a few more times throughout the day, and last night when I went to bed I looked at her sleeping in her crib and sure enough she was sucking her thumb. I don't know if having her suck on her pacifier is better than her thumb, but at least one day I can throw her pacifiers away. I don't have any way of getting rid of her thumb. She likes her pacifier and usually only needs it to help her get to sleep so hopefully if I keep sticking it in her mouth when she starts sucking her thumb she'll learn not to do it anymore. As much as I don't want her to suck her thumb I have to admit it is really cute. Maybe sometime when she is doing it I'll take a picture before I take out. Maybe.

The Many Faces of Isabella

I took some pictures today of Isabella and when I looked at them she seemed to be showing off all the different faces she could make. So I thought I'd share them with you all.

She Did It!!!!

Finally!!! Isabella ROLLED OVER for the very first time!!!!!! I'm so excited for her!!! I can't believe how excited I got once she did it. She's rolled over a couple times before, but that was when she was only a couple weeks old. She had colic and she would get herself so worked up she would accidentally roll over. This time was totally different because you could tell she was really trying. She would grunt a little and try to force her little body over, and she finally did it. She rolled over 4 times today. It's so much fun seeing Isabella learning how to do new things. I was excited the first time she actually held onto a toy, and the first day I noticed her watching and staring intently at her hands. It must be exciting every time your baby learns something new no matter how tiny it is. I think it's because when you bring them home they don't do much but eat and sleep. They just lay around staring at the ceiling or briefly looking at you. When they actually learn new skills you start to see them as a real person not just a little doll that needs to be fed and changed.
She got some books for Christmas so I read them to her today. She seemed to like looking at them, but obviously didn't care what I was saying. It was cute because she would take her left hand and hold it on the book like she was holding the book open. Everytime I turned the page she would put her hand back in the same place just like mine and hold the book open with me. I don't know if she really knew what she was doing, but it was super cute anyways.
We also got her weighed today and she now weighs 15lbs. 2oz. with clothes on. That means she's gained 2lbs. in a month!!! I'm so happy my baby is so cute and chubby.
She's doing much better today since we're not around lots of people. She's back to her normal routine and happy as ever. I guess that's really what she needed was to get away from everyone and get back to her usual schedule. It works because she's my usual happy little chub monster.
Well I'm off to read some more of my new book. My mom got me a book called "Pledged". It's about sororities and what goes on in them, etc.. I've only read two chapters and I'm hooked. It's a great book so far.
Good night everyone!!!
