Obsessed With Isabella

This blog is dedicated to my daughter, Isabella. She is the smartest, strongest, most beautiful little girl you could ever meet. This is why she needs a blog all about her. Although she is the center of my life I will also share my opinions and ideas on other subjects, but mostly this will be about my little chunk-chunk.

President (almost) Barack Obama...

Did you watch his acceptance speech? You should have.

I'm a HUGE political junky, but usually I don't like to "talk politics" very often. I believe that everyone has a right to their own opinion, and I have no desire to be the one to convert someone to "my side". Most, if not all, of you know that I've loved Obama since his keynote speech at the democratic convention in 2004.

Throughout his campaign I've waivered on who I support. It's hard to support someone who doesn't agree 100% with what you believe. Why Obama doesn't support gay marriage I don't know. For whatever reason that is something important to me. I think it's because I look at Isabella and think that if one day she told me and Doug that she was gay I would want her to have EVERY SINGLE option that Doug and I have. I couldn't imagine Isabella not being able to "legally" be with someone just because she likes boobs. Luckily, most everything else that Obama says, I agree with.

I watched his acceptance speech tonight and couldn't believe that I am lucky enough to be witnessing something that I really never thought would happen. I even turned down going out tonight even though bellbell is at my mom's. I couldn't miss this. When he walked out onto the stage I realized fully why I couldn't miss this moment. It was amazing. Seriously, beyond amazing.

His speech was more than anything I expected and it really revived my support for him, and I hope it made others realize that he is the right person for the job.

I think the most amazing part for me was after his speech when Michelle and his daughters walked onto stage. Watching this entire family that looked completely different than me actually made me choke up. I've honestly never thought too much before about someone of a different race becoming president. I think I just assummed it would always be old, rich, white guys. You know, it just happened to be their turn to be president. Even though I've supported Obama from the start I didn't realize until this exact moment how big of a thing this would be for him to be elected president.

I think the only thing that amazes me more than the fact that we could have the first black president, is that we could finally have the first black president who most of America can get behind, and who will actually do something good for this country. How crazy is it that Obama is this perfect combination???

I'm just excited. No, SUPER EXCITED!!! I can't wait for November. Isabella will be coming with me to vote. Will she understand?? Nope. I just hope she learns to love this process sooner than I did. That would make me happy in the end.

It's private time...

Sorry that's it's going to be annoying to view my blog now, but I felt it was important to make my blog only accessible to people I want reading it. Since I'm starting a business I wasn't comfortable with potential clients googling my name and finding my blog. Not that I would change anything on my blog, but I don't need people who are thinking of hiring me knowing all my personal business. I'm also not comfortable with them being able to view pictures of Isabella. I realize posting pics of your kid online where anyone in the world can see it isn't the safest thing, but it worries more that people who will meet me could see pics of Bellbell and then kidnap her.

Anyway, sorry again that it will be annoying to read my blog, but I feel more comfortable with it this way. Hopefully I invited everyone that reads my blog, but maybe I didn't? We'll see I guess.

Later taters!

I need a vacation...

I'm not kidding. I need one. Now.

Hopefully by the middle of next week I won't be soooo stressed out, but I really don't have any confidence in that. Who thought starting my own business was a good idea? Oh, ok...yeah it was me. Honestly, in the long run (as long as people hire me) it will be worth it, but right now, at this exact moment I just want to run down 42nd and scream my head off. I feel overwhelmed and behind in everything I need to get done.

I've gone from a "To Do" list of over 60 things to and "Updated To Do" list of about 23. That's an accomplishment I guess, but I won't feel comfortable and calm until my "To Do" list is complete and I'm hired.

I couldn't imagine trying to get all this stuff done while still doing daycare. I feel like right now I have 3 full times jobs. That doesn't even include my regular mom/girlfriend jobs. I'm tired of calling people, talking to people, running errands, comparing prices, making decisions, realizing I made the wrong decision, typing, researching, blah, blah, blah.

All I want to do is clean some houses. That's it. Why does it have to be soooo difficult??? I honestly think part of the problem is that in the last year and half I haven't had to actually use too many thought molecules in my brain. I mean, yes, taking care of beautiful babies requires some brain power, but it's not rocket science. I'm obviously not saying that this particular venture is rocket science, but I've actually had to talk to ADULTS constantly every single day. Can you imagine going from talking to kids under the age of 4 every single day to all of a sudden talking to people who instead of screaming at you (or farting for that matter) actually say words that you understand? Or at least you are pretty sure you understand, but you haven't heard a full sentence with proper sentence structure in over a year and a half at 2:00 in the afternoon, so you don't really know how to respond. All you want to say is, "It's still nap time.", or "Did you poop?", or "Your mommy will be here soon.", or my ever favorite..."Yes, blakdlahdflahda, is a turtle." Seriously.

Right now I'm freaking out. People with strong debilitating anxiety disorders really are not recommended, by me at least, to start their own business. Although, I'm glad I'm finally doing something that I've wanted to do for a very long time. I've sat around long enough "wishing" when I could've been "doing". If I fail, I fail. If I succeed then good for me. Either way I'll be happy I tried and I know I'll always make the greatest future McDonald's drive-thru chick ever!!!

(BTW, yeah the insomnia thing with a dash of Isabella waking up at least once a night to go to the bathroom isn't helping either. I will highly recommend the sugar free vanilla iced coffee's from McDonalds though. It's definitely my new addiction. 3 days in a row and counting.)

Our first tomato...

We were finally able to pick our first tomato a few days ago. Isabella went outside in her jammies and I showed her how to pick it. This was the conversation afterwards:

Bellbell: "Are we going to eat the red tomato?"
Me: "Yes, but it needs a little time to finish ripening."
Bellbell: "No. I don't like tomatoes. Daddy doesn't like tomatoes. You like tomatoes mommy."

Basically she was excited to watch it grow, and to get to pick it, but she knows she does NOT like tomatoes, so there was nothing I could do to convince her to even try it. Plus, I didn't try too hard to get her to eat it because I know they literally make her gag. I've seen it.

By Friday there should be quite a few ready, so I'm going to use Ambers food processor to make tomato sauce. Thanks Amber! My goal is to make a bunch of tomato sauce and freeze it. We make chili every single Sunday during football season so we go through lots of tomato sauce in the winter. If I can get enough sauce out of my tomatoes just for the chili I would be happy. We'll see how it goes though.

She gets it from her daddy...

On Monday Isabella and I went to the grocery store. This is the hat she wore. Enough said.

Even John Edwards sucks...

John Edwards was the one politician that actually made me question whether I should vote for Obama or not. Now I know I chose the right one. That is until Obama admits to something like this.

I don't have to worry anymore...

Brett Favre is going to play for the Jets. Whew! There had been rumblings that he would possibly come to Minnesota and I was terrified. I wasn't sure I'd be willing to cheer for a team with the main cheesehead as their quarterback. Now I don't have to worry. I'm very relieved.
